Plastic in drinking water, what are the risks for human health?

Plastic in drinking water, what are the risks for human health?

Date: 26  NOV 2017
Scientific field: Health
Information source:
Glossary:
        • Corpuscle: Generic name that receives a series of small structures such as cells, molecules,                  particles or elements,
Summary:
A recent study has found that drinking water contains plastic particles or fibers. We do not know what happens with these microfragments once they are in the intestine. It could be that they passed through the body without being absorbed, just like the non-digestible fiber of the food. However, the smaller they are, the more likely they are to reach the bloodstream and even the cells. We also do not know if these microparticles are harmful to human health, but they have several potential harmful effects. It is possible that these micriparticles combine with insoluble toxins and these produce diseases.

 Personal opinion:

More studies should be done to know the seriousness of the matter, and if it is discovered that these microparticles are harmful to the human body this water would have to be treated in some way to eliminate them.
