NASA finds organic molecules in rocks of Mars of 3,000 million years.

 07/06/2018

Glossary:

"It could be a previous life test, but it could also belong to a meteorite or other sources," said Paul Mahaffy, director of NASA's Solar System Exploration division.

  Summary:

NASA has announced that its Curiosity explorer robot, a mission from Mars made in 2012, found organic molecules in rocks of the red planet formed 3 billion years ago, which could indicate that there was life there.  The origin of these molecules can not yet be confirmed. It could be a previous life test, but it could also belong to a meteorite or other sources. Although the reason for the creation of these molecules is still unclear, NASA has pointed out that this type of particle could have been the source of food for a hypothetical microbial life on Mars. In this way, the data collected by Curiosity reveal that billions of years ago, a lake of water within the Gale crater contained all the necessary ingredients for life.

 Personal opinion:

In my opinion this information is very interesting and very visual since it could solve doubts created from our beginning, which is knowing if we are really alone in this world or not in a completely certain way.

What contaminates producing food and 'Let mathematics be with you'

11/06/2018

Glossary:

The impact of food production on the environment is reflected in its carbon footprint. Clara Grima presents a book about mathematics present in everyday activities.

Summary:

A research carried out by the University of Navarra shows that following a Mediterranean diet is very good for our health, and also for the environment. Consuming Mediterranean foods produces fewer problematic emissions for the ozone layer. The way in which food is produced, processed, distributed and consumed has consequences for ecosystems. Recently the University of Oxford and the Swiss Institute of Agricultural Research have conducted the most comprehensive study to date on the environmental impact of food production. where it shows how apparently identical products, located in the same supermarket location, actually have very different environmental impacts.

Personal opinion:

In my opinion it is completely true that the consumption of Mediterranean foods is positive for our health and for the environment, and I think it is a very good thing since I am a person who consumes many foods of the Mediterranean diet.

Researches discover how bats carry viruses without getting sick

Februar 25, 2018 06:53 pm

It is known that bats harbor pathogens such as, the recently very well known in Spain, Ebola and even then they do not show at first glance that they suffer from it.
This is due, according to a recent study, to antiviral pathway called antiviral STING-interferon tat allows them to maintain sufficient defense against the disease without triggering an intensified inmune reaction.

Scientific field: Biology

Glossary:

-Pathogen: that causes or produces disease.
-Via: conduit of the human or animal body through which certain fluids pass.

Test comment:

The system of bats is very interesting because it could be a key to solve many contagious lethal diseases, which would be very favorable.

http://www.abc.es/ciencia/abci-descubren-senal-oxigeno-mas-lejana-universo-201805161900_noticia.html

A group of researches found a very weak glow of light, thanks to the ALMA telescope, emitted by ionized oxygen.
This oxygen was 10 times farther thanit originated and by calculations it was dicovered that it travelled 13,280 millions light years.
In addition, it was also found with a weaker signal, but as same distance, neutral hydrogen.

Scientific field: Astronomy

Glossary:

-Fusion: Reaction that occurs when two dense cores subjected to high temperatures merge and             form a heavier core; this reactions releases large amount of nuclear energy.

-Wavelenght: Distance between two points corresponding to the same phase in two consecutives waves.

Text comment:

Thanks to this we can know more accurately when was created the first oxygen or at least the one that we believe earlier.
Besides taht if hydrogen has also been found, H2O can be formed and that would behave that can have perfectly life in other distants planets.

Insight: Path to hearth of Mars

02/05/2018

   Glossary:

On May 5, the NASA mission will study the activity of the interior of Mars.

Summary:

The mission of NASA to Mars Insight was made on May 5, and it will be the first to know what the center of Mars is like. InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport), measuring its heat and listening to the 'marsquakes', something similar to earthquakes on Earth. It will use the seismic waves of the 'marsquakes' to develop a map of the deep interior of the planet. Knowing how the creation of Mars was will help us to know how other rocky planets were created, including Earth.
Among the scientific instruments on board is TWINS, a Spanish environmental station that will monitor the environmental conditions in the landing zone continuously during the 2 years that the mission is believed to last.

Personal opinion:

In my opinion it is a mission that will make a change in the history of the earth for the simple reason that we can study much more thoroughly a planet that has always been very close to us (respectively) which we still do not know completely, besides that This mission apart from making us see how Mars is will help us to know more about our Earth.

Tutankamon don't hide more secrets

07/05/2018

Glossary:

The researchers conclude, after three years of rumors, that there is no secret chamber behind the famous tomb of the boy king.

Summary:

After three years of rumors, wanting to know the secret of the tomb of Tutankhamun Finally, science has destroyed the dreams of many and has concluded that there are no secret chambers, neither in the tomb of the child king, nor in the zones in the Valley of the Kings. The Egyptian authorities admitted on Sunday the disappointment after which there is no secret. Researchers have ruled out that there is a secret chamber behind the wall of Tutankhamun's famous tomb and that, according to the theory, he could have accommodated the remains of Queen Nefertiti. Where previously Egyptian officials were very sure that if the mummy of the beautiful queen, which some believe was the mother of the child king, was behind the wall of the famous tomb more than 3,000 years old. The search began when the British archaeologist, Nicholas Reeves. In an article published by Reeves in 2015, 'Nefertiti's Burial', he argued that the tomb in which Tutankhamun was found had originally been designed for Queen Nefertiti, but that the remains of it could be further away from that chamber but inside the burial.

Personal opinion:

I think that it is a very important notice because this rumour conmovate a lot of people, because it is a secret of 3.000 years, but a very bad information because a lot of people and me before this information think that it can be a secret camera.

They determine how malaria infection of wild birds occurs.

All living essays that transmit infectious diseases, as well as the characteristics of their habitat can have important effects on the diversity of parasites. The Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and the Network Biomedical Research Center for Epidemiology and Public Health (Spain) have conducted studies on avian malaria infection in wild bird populations. They have done the study in 45 urban, rural locations and natural in the southwest of Andalusia, places where these pathogens most affect. For this, researchers have analyzed blood samples of 2,588 birds and 340,829 mosquito females, and studies do with male sparrows because they affect them similar to us and from there they can better study this problem.

→ Information source:

→ Glossary:
- Rays ball some luminous spheres that appear in storms electric and that last much longer than a normal beam.

→ Summary: The stability of the ball rays is a mystery. Our model explains its long life by describing them as electromagnetic knots. Never before has he tried to create them in a laboratory to study and explore them. Mikko Möttönen highlights the simplicity of the method to create them and their possible future applications. "If we could apply this technique to create hot plasma balls, it would be a breakthrough for nuclear fusion reactors." The spherical shape of the plasma could help its stabilization without the need to use giant magnets, "although this needs more research," explains the scientist.

The probe that will photograph the sunsets of Mars begins to work

The probe that will photograph the sunsets of Mars begins to work

→ Date: 2 MAR 2018

→ Scientific field: Science

→ Information source:

→ Summary: ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter reached the Martian orbit in October 2016, but it took a year and a half to slow down and reach its final orbit, at an altitude of 400 kilometers. From there, he will circle the planet once every two hours photographing sunsets to look for little abundant gases in the backlight. The interest of detecting trace amounts of very little gases such as methane is that they can reveal the existence of invisible processes. Methane on Earth is associated with biological activity and on Mars could be linked to the metabolism of microbes that inhabit the subsoil. But methane could also discover some kind of unexpected geological activity, just like sulfur. The new probe, which will begin its scientific mission in April, will accumulate information to the collection during decades.

→ Personal opinion:
This will cause a breakthrough for research on Mars and to try to unravel the mystery about what happened to the oceans that once bathed.

While Europe is freezing, the North Pole is experiencing a heat wave. Why?

1/2/2018

The strange phenomenon contrasts with the strong winter that several countries of the old continent live. Although it is not so unusual, it worries that it begins to appear more frequently because it would end up affecting the entire planet.

As you can see, temperatures in this part of Europe have dropped alarmingly since temperatures have reached -10 degrees in cities such as Warsaw, as well as causing quite a lot of deaths in the cold. Temperatures have risen to 7.2 degrees something that really if you see or hear it alarms a lot since that can cause melting poles and sea level augmente. Most people would say that it is due to climate change, but from a study conducted on this heat, they have realized that this heat comes from a heat wave that has reached the north pole and that it is not enough to be alarmed, even though they continue having heat waves of this type if that could cause the poles to melt.

Glossary:

Why the north pole have a very hot clime this month? this is a very big problem for the world because this provoque the melting of poles.

Text coment:

In my opinion if that pass with more frequency it will be a very big problem for all the poblation because afect all the planet the melting of poles.
